A fairly common thing we hear from photographers is: “My clients just don’t want printed products.” But here’s the truth — more often than not, it’s not that they don’t want them. It’s that they’ve never been shown the value of them. They’re used to digital galleries. They expect USBs. That’s what the industry has trained them to expect. But just because it’s all they know, it doesn’t mean that’s all they want. Ian tells the story of being in a seminar with a number of very wealthy Americans. When he tried To View More >>
We’re thrilled to announce updates to our online galleries to suit both school AND wedding/portrait photography. Are you a full-time wedding and portrait photographer who shoots a few school or day care sessions? Or maybe you’re the opposite? You focus on school sessions but shoot weddings on the side? Either way, until now you couldn’t do both in one Workspace account — and that didn’t suit everyone! Well, that’s changing. If you have a Pro account, just go to your Workspace Image Galleries, click on New Gallery, and you’ll have three choices To View More >>

Apart from the fact that Katherine adores Queensberry albums, she personally feels you can’t beat printed images. In this day and age everyone (herself included) has thousands of photos on their phones, computers and social media accounts, but they rarely get round to printing the images. And yet when you hire a professional photographer the images are of such beautiful quality, it's such a shame to confine them to a ‘screen’, as they take on a whole new dimension when printed. Katherine gives us some sound album advice to ponder, interspersed with beautiful wedding To View More >>

After coming across Paul and Puyan’s wedding, we knew we had to chat with the photographer behind their beautiful photographs. Documenting love stories both in France and abroad, Jérémy Boyer has only been in the wedding industry for around four years, and says he's been taking it seriously for the past two! But with his clear vision and creative outlook he's already well recognised for his work. We discussed all things weddings, from mixed cultures and traditions, to the clients you attract, and of course Puyan's one-of-a-kind dress, made by herself. To View More >>

Talk about wedding envy! The Queensberry team are practically swooning over Helen and Michael's gorgeous album by Ellie Gillard. Every detail of the day is highlighted beautifully, and given the attention it deserves. Helen & Mikey (as he’s known to Helen) got married at Trinity Buoy Wharf in the Docklands. It's one of Ellie's favourite venues in London, both urban and epic. Treated to one of the first hot days of 2016, the wedding party, and Ellie, cruised down the Thames to the reception, drinking prosecco on an ever-so-slightly 70s party boat, before feasting, To View More >>
After more than fifteen years in the business, UK photographer Simon Whitten of Firehorse Photography & Filming has covered more than 600 weddings on four continents. He's has been a friend of Queensberry for much of his career. Simon is strong-minded character who believes that the key to success is to find your own way and stand out from the crowd. "Don't follow the latest fads or fashions," he says, "or you will only ever be a follower, and always late to the party." We asked him a few questions about how that's reflected in his life and work… Simon's first To View More >>

Have you seen the movie Hitchcock yet? Even without hobbits, elves and superheroes it's very entertaining. Alfred Hitchcock and his wife Alma were a family business, as many people reading this probably are, and it's interesting to watch the movie through that lens... 1. The movie focuses on the making of Psycho. No one else believed in the project, so they mortgaged their house to make it. Sound familiar? 2. They worked best when they worked together. He was the famous one but Alma was clearly important to his success. 3. They made Psycho come alive in the editing room by arguing about the little To View More >>

No-one likes piracy, so how can you stop people stealing your digital images? There is only one sure method: Store your data on a computer in a secure office - and don't connect it to the internet. I'm not kidding. I was speaking to a commercial lawyer friend who deals with multi-million dollar litigation, and if his stuff is super-confidential, that's exactly what he does. Recently we had an irate client complain that some of her images had been pirated from Workspace, and ask how we could let that happen. She explained how it was done (I'm not going to tell you) and she was quite right. Within To View More >>
Marcus Bell is one of our long time friends, like when PJ Retro was the new big thing. When he's not busy running (the highly acclaimed and successful) Studio Impressions he's speaking at seminars and conferences. Marcus is running seminars in late February around Australia and New Zealand. A visit to one of the seminars will be well worth it, as Marcus will be "Sharing his knowledge and secrets from the last ten years, including The art of capturing emotive award winning Images, fine art printing, photoshop techniques and workflow. Creating images and products that sell themselves, plus much more..." To View More >>
